Symptoms

When you use a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse, it may stop responding. This can happen during normal usage or when one of these specific scenarios occurs:

  • The PC goes to sleep, and a key press or the power button is used to wake from sleep.

  • There are multiple Bluetooth mice connected to the same PC.

1) Go to Bluetooth and Other Devices Settings 2) Remove the mouse (this will also uninstall the software) 3) Download, install and open the Bluetooth Arc Touch Mouse App from the Microsoft Store 4) Download and install the mouse driver (MouseKeyboardCenter) from the Microsoft Support Page for the Bluetooth Arc Touch Mouse. Setting up a MS Arc Touch Mouse Bluetooth SE on a SP4 running Windows 10 v1703 Enterprise. I paired the mouse fine. When I resume the SP4 from Sleep/Connected Standby/Hibernate, there is no actual connection to the mouse. In Bluetooth & other devices, it shows: Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition Connected. However, it doesn't work. Learn how to set up and use the newest Microsoft accessories. Use Microsoft Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse. Use Microsoft Designer Compact Keyboard. Use Microsoft Number Pad. Use the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.

Cause

Mouse stops responding during normal usage or after wake from sleep

Can occur when the Bluetooth host fails to reconnect with the mouse. The host then ignores successive reconnection attempts or sets the adaptive frequency hopping to a different frequency and loses device acknowledgement.

Resolution

Mouse stops responding during normal usage or after wake from sleep

If the mouse stops responding after the PC goes to sleep, re-add the Bluetooth enabled mouse from Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:
Note: You will need to use your keyboard to move around your system.

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Open Devices and Printers.

  3. Click Add Device.

This will re-enumerate the Bluetooth receiver and the mouse will be re-detected.
If this doesn't work, you can also try re-enumerating by turning the power on the Bluetooth receiver off and then on, unplugging and plugging the dongle for the receiver (if there is one), or restarting the computer.

Not

If the mouse stops responding and there are multiple mice connected to the PC, turn off and then turn on one of the Bluetooth mice.

More Information

If the problem occurs more than once, and you have to repeatedly re-add the mouse or turn it off and then on, you may want to update firmware or drivers associated with the Bluetooth controller. Please contact the computer manufacturer or manufacturer of the controller for more information.

So this is very annoying and why I am always hesitant about upgrading with MAC. Now my mouse will not stay connected to bluetooth. I have no problems with my previous versions of macOS. Now it is almost everyday that I have to reset the bluetooth. This is the most comfortable affordable mouse on the market for me and I will be very disappointed if MAC cannot fix this.
